Premium Offerings
BY CORAVIN
Domaine Roland Lavantureux “Vauprin,” Chablis, Burgundy ... 24
A structured, lively and mineral wine with good length on the palate.
Both straightforward and fresh, with exemplary concentration. The
restrained and equally pure nose offers up notes of smoky mineral
reduction, floral, white peach and sea breeze that complement well
the salty, intense and beautifully detailed flavors that exude plenty of
minerality.
Domaine Gachot-Monot, Cote de Nuits-Villages, Burgundy ... 24
Fragrant aromas of wild strawberries and raspberries with only a hint
of wood, making this a very charming one. The combination of silky
tannins and fresh acidity underline that beautifully. Full of character
but relatively light in body.
Cliff Lede “Stag’s Leap,” Cabernet Sauvignon, SLD-
Napa Valley ................................................................................ 27
Deep garnet-purple colored 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Stags Leap
District offers up a cassis, smoked meat, blackberry preserves and
spice cake-scented nose with a mocha hint. Full-bodied, rich and
concentrated with firm, grainy tannins, it shows a lot of oak, which
should marry with the intense fruit, finishing long and layered.
DAOU Vineyards “Reserve,” Cabernet Sauvignon,
Paso Robles ................................................................................. 27
This wine displays unrestrained wild cherry, currant and mulberry
fragrances arise with pronounced notes of cocoa, coriander, and
wintergreen. Sublayers of dried herbs, cedar, tobacco leaf and slate
provide substantive foundation to the aromatic profile. On the palate
a veritable explosion of fresh, ripe, dark berry fruits.
Quintessa Cabernet Sauvignon, Rutherford-
Napa Valley ................................................................................ 76
Deep garnet-purple colored, it has a very deep purple color and notes
of crushed rocks, dusty earth and iron ore over black currants and
black cherries, plus hints of tapenade, bay leaves, underbrush and
char grill. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is bursting with densely
packed, youthful black fruits, framed by finely grained tannins and
refreshing acid.
Alpha Omega “II” Red Blend, Napa Valley ............................... 76
Shiny ruby with touches of cranberry and cassis on the rim. On the
nose Beautiful balance between spices, such as cinnamon and thyme,
and fruit, such as cherries and raspberries, with tobacco leaf, cedar,
caramel and hibiscus. On the palate Soft but fresh entrance evolving
on integrated tannins with beautiful chocolate notes and pipe tobacco
with strawberry jam, cantaloupe and lilac. Blend: 65% Cabernet
Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc.

San Francisco Bay .....................................................................195
The color is dark purple and the aromas range from black
cherry, plum and cassis to cola and earth. The palate is rich and
concentrated with broad tannins buffered by the complex fruit flavors.
It is a big, impressive wine that will continue to improve for many
years.
720608 Cardinale, Cabernet Sauvignon ’14, Napa Valley ....399
An intriguing combination of dark fruits and spices, opening with
scents of ripe boysenberry and dark cherry that meld on the palate
with holiday spices and Sumatra coffee bean flavors. The 2013
Cardinale has a lush, mid-body texture and a lingering finish.
760088 Araujo “Altagracia,” Bordeaux Blend ’13,
Napa Valley ...............................................................................199
The 2011 Altagracia is round, sexy, supple and beautiful, especially
within the context of the year. Sweet red berries, mint, tobacco,
savory herbs and anise meld together in a distinctive wine long on
personality. With time in the glass the wine fleshes out nicely, as the
flavors become darker, richer and layered. The blend is 82% Cabernet
Sauvignon, 4% Petit Verdot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 2% Malbec.
720617 Dalla Valle, Cabernet Sauvignon ’11, Napa Valley ....330
A dark, black fruit character, notes of smoke and gravel, and a heft
that makes the taster pause and take notice. These hallmark aromas
and textures are delivered on a bed of soft, supple, round tannins.
This blend of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon and 16% Cabernet Franc will
certainly age for a decade or more, but even now, in its early days, it
720540 ZD “Abacus” XIX, Napa Valley ..................................675
The Nineteen Bottling - 1992 - 2017. Abacus is the ultimate Cabernet
Sauvignon. It is a “solera style” multiple vintage blend of every
ZD Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon ever produced. The term “solera”
indicates that only a small portion of this wine is bottled each year.
The remainder is returned to barrel to await an infusion of the next
youthful vintage. Each bottling grows by one vintage, and the 19th
bottling includes 25 consecutive vintages of ZD Reserve Cabernet
Sauvignon (1992 - 2017).
