Professional Standards Review Committee (PSRC), as deemed appropriate. Failure to abide by the policies of the
Cooperative Education Program will result in the student being referred to PSRC for action.
A. Cooperative Education Calendar
The student is required to be available for employment beginning the first date of the co-op
semester through the end date as prescribed by the Cooperative Education Calendar. Any exceptions must have
the prior approval of the student’s Cooperative Education Faculty Advisor.
1. Absence Due to Illness
If, due to illness or serious personal circumstances, a student cannot report for work on a scheduled
workday, the employer should be advised as soon as possible. The Cooperative Education Faculty
Advisors must also be advised if it seems likely that the absence will extend beyond one week.
Should an absence exceed three weeks of the co-op semester, the student must immediately contact
Outcomes for the semester. The student must complete and return the "Student Petition for Waiver or
Exception" including on the form a detailed explanation of the reason for and dates of the absence.
2. Absence for Personal Reasons
The student should not ask the employer for time off from work for any reason, academic, social or
observes only company holidays, not University holidays or vacations, during the co-op semester.
B. Standards of Professional Conduct
While on the work assignment, the student is an employee of the company or agency and is under the
supervision of that organization in the performance of duties. Each student is expected to meet all of the
requirements of professionalism inherent in the employing organization.
