Welcome Home
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I
will come in and dine with him, and he with Me,” so says the Book of Revelation 3:20.
You are here, and so you have either knocked or opened the door. We have all joined
on this day to welcome each other home. Today we gather to extend our hands and our
hearts to receive and embrace one another. In the Kingdom of God, all are welcome.
Thank you to our regular membership, new members, and visitors for joining this
celebration. You are all special guests today and I welcome you.
This homecoming occasion is not only in observance of [specific occasion], but a
jamboree dedicated to each person in this room today. When you are here, you are
home. So, take off your coat and shoes. Make yourself comfortable because this is
[Name of Church Founders] sought to create one place where we could gather to
celebrate life, love, and God. One place where all could feel a sense of belonging, a
sense of home. [Their, His, or Her] mission was clear: [Church Mission Statement].
Today, I ask each of you to remember our past so that it may guide us into a bountiful
future.
Remember that no matter where you live, [Church Name] is also your home. It is a
place where you can be free from the distractions of the outside world and be one with
this family. With like thoughts in our minds and love in our hearts, we share this special
day.
Every day we take a journey. We make choices, good and bad. We act selfishly on
occasion and care for others when necessary. We work, we play, we rest. Over the past
year our membership has accomplished great things together and individually. We have
journeyed together in [List Notable Church Achievements]. Let us all be reminded that
no matter where life takes us, with God in our hearts we are always home.
Go forth and live this message. May you always feel welcome and at home in the loving
embrace of God. And may you always extend your hand and your heart to welcome
others in this life.
“Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell
them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.”
